Two hydrogen storage vessels just left our workshop – on their way to support the future of hydrogen research.💧⚡

LEFFER has completed two hydrogen storage vessels for the Smart Mobility Lab at TU Dresden, where they will support research into the production, storage and intelligent use of green hydrogen within a microgrid electrolysis plant.

Hydrogen storage is what turns green hydrogen from a production process into an energy system. It allows renewable energy to be converted, stored and made available when needed – creating flexibility, improving energy security and making decarbonization scalable.

Each vessel stores around 750 kg of hydrogen, equivalent to approximately 25 MWh of energy. With a volume of 184m³ and an operating pressure of 50 bar, they are engineered for the duty cycles of an electrolysis plant. Designed for 10,000+ load cycles and certified to PED 2014/68/EU (Module H1) and AD 2000, these vessels combine safety, reliability and long-term performance.
