Gasholders
LEFFER can draw on experience in gas tank construction from over 100 projects worldwide. In addition to the complete planning, calculation, manufacture, and assembly of disc gas tanks, repairs, inspections, and conversions of existing gas tanks are carried out worldwide.
The task
The development of the disc gas holder was driven by industry demand for relatively lightweight gas storage facilities that could be constructed safely and economically, even in poor or unstable ground conditions, such as in mining areas, and still offer large storage capacities.
The solution
Based on the telescopic gas tank, sensible adoption of its proven design elements, in particular fundamental retention of the liquid seal, but with a significant reduction in the amount of barrier medium that adversely affects the operating weight.
The principle
In a prismatic hollow body (jacket), which is reinforced at its upper end by the roof and at its lower end by the foundation, a sealing element floats on the gas, changing its position with the contents and simultaneously regulating the pressure – the disc. The gas-tight seal between the jacket and the disc is achieved by an ingenious device in conjunction with a liquid reservoir.
